We had six of our friends from college fly in to celebrate the life of a wonderful woman. So the only photo I have of all of us comes from my friend Pam's blog. Allison is the second from the right. It was her mom that passed away on Weds. We took this photo at Steak and Shake at MIDNIGHT after the funeral:
that was what we told people all weekend.
I have never taken notes at a funeral and this was a funeral that I took notes.
Allison's mom had cancer for 21 years of her 62 year life and yet the last 1/3 of her life, she grew closer to God than ever. In her casket was her Bible with her most recent Bible Study from Isaiah - with many handwritten scribbles. That was very powerful.
At the funeral, a theme that was repeated was, "she was okay in the hands of her Savior." Her faith and hope were real and that helped her have victory over all her problems. The funeral was truly a celebration! She also invested her time with lifelong friends, invested her money in traveling on memorable vacations with her family and was a "hostess-with-the-mostess."

Wonderful notes that you took about Debbie's life!
ReplyDeleteSO sad for Allison and what great friends you all were to go be with her. You all look exactly the same. Ten years later and you're all beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSteak and Shake - total comfort food. What an awesome woman she must have been! How wonderful for your friend to be surrounded by such love.
ReplyDeleteMegan, you are sweet!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, what a great reflection of the weekend! I was so blessed to be there with you & our friends!
