Time in Michigan Part 1

The older four spent some time in Michigan with Grandma and Grandpa when school got out.  Grace and Rita went to camp the first week and then they traveled the second week up to visit their cousins 3 hours away in the northern part of Michigan.

This was the morning they left for camp.  This was the first time Rita went to camp.
Grace is a pro.

Bath and Family Room Renovation Photos

We decided to do the renovating while the older kids were away.  I was so glad because it makes things less chaotic and many last minute errands and decisions needed to be made.  My guys works late and arrive early.

Here is the before photo of our fireplace.  The tile was cracked and ugly.  The fireplace doesn't work and doesn't have a cover.  I put the mason jars in there for the time being to decorate but the baby is always playing with them!  The carpet was also the standard renters carpet that looked pretty shabby.  When we put the wood floors in our house, we got a peek of all the layers of old flooring left underneath.  It STUNK when it was being ripped up.

When the tile started to come up, there was a mess of concrete underneath that also needed to be taken up.  Every project ends up being a lot more involved that we think.

We had built in bookshelves lining our walls in this spot.  I have never enjoyed decorating with clutter or books so they have been empty since we moved in years ago.  Finally we decided to take them down and gain a lot more space.  We also ripped up all the carpet (and linonium) in this room.  We painted the closet, the walls, and added new closet doors.  We also wanted to install a television on the wall and move the cable cords.

This is the nastiness that was under our master shower.  There was mold, wetness and tons of water damage.  It feels so nice to have it all fixed, cleaned and sealed.  I am so thankful we caught it before we had more damage.  We were starting to have leaking into the laundry room below it.

My guys work quickly and are excellent.  Here is a photo of the shower tile being put up!  I love fresh and white tile with white grout.  I had some special requests that they were able to do for me and I can show it when I take the final photos.  I am so happy with the end product.
I have fallen in love with tiled bathrooms and can't wait to work on the kids bathroom... in a few years!

June 2015

The last days of school and my three little ones at home kept me busy in June.  We ran a lot of errands and had a lot of friends over.  We also started another renovation project in our family room and bathroom and the older kids went to Michigan.  Gutted the whole master bathroom to the studs and family room while the older kids were in Michigan with grandparents!  Done in less than one week - it was amazing turnaround and we are loving the results.

Good friends of our that come over every Tuesday morning - Sienna and Hudson

Going to Freddy's for custard with our favorite neighbor Natalie!

End of school year party for Sam and his 1st grade class!

Ice Cream Sundaes!

Marta learned how to eat ice cream herself.  She likes to scoop it out with her hands.

Our monthly library visit to see Miss Susan involved a lot of dancing and playing.
Clara LOVES this!  We do this every month.

The renovations can't stop the baby from peeking behind the plastic tarp.
