Grandma's funeral in Cape Cod

My Grandma passed away in the middle of June.  I was very close to her.  When I first began having children, she traveled often to see me.  Here is a photo of Grace in Gram's lap during one visit.  Grace Eileen is named after her.

Marta and I went to Baltimore and flew to Rhode Island.  We then rented a car and drove 2 hours to Cape Cod.  She was a trooper and did great.

We made sure to visit a few of our favorite places while there.  Here we are at Ben and Bills sweet shop.  I love the selection of fudge.

A view of the harbor

Almost every great grandchild and grandchild was there during the week.  Here we are at the funeral home playing with the babies.

My grandma loved Paul's pizza so we ordered it after the wake.  Some cousins went to the Tides hotel and hung out on the porch together.

This is Kylie.  Kylie is my mom's adopted cousin's daughter-in-law.  My grandma loved Kylie.

My mom and I got a lobster roll to share.

This is the cemetery where Gram was buried.  It is also the cemetery where my grandpa is buried along with Katharine Lee Bates.

This is my cousin's wife Elise.  She is a caterer and her mom made some mini tarts.  We all took one for the funeral procession.

My cousin Kelsey and her fiancĂ©e Jake were so helpful to me and held Marta while she slept.  I had a part in the funeral mass so they held the baby so I could do my part.

Saint Patrick's Church is my grandma's church but it also where my parents got married and many of my relatives.  This is also where we had the funeral mass .

This is my Gram's final place of rest.  The flowers were beautiful so we made sure to take a photo.  I was so thankful I was able to be a part of a wonderful and sad weekend celebrating my Gram and her life with those that I love.

Fun places we have been

We went blueberry picking in the Northern Neck of Virginia last Saturday.  It was a really nice day to be together as a family.  We also visited Colonial Beach, VA as they were having a festival during that day.  I will never forget this day at the blueberry fields because I also found out that my Grandma died while we were there.

A new splash pad opened up that the kids LOVE to go to - especially Clara.

We went with our friend Brooks to a therapy play center.  It was so much fun playing for almost 3 hours on all the equipment.  It included hammocks, trampolines, balls and ride on toys.

One of the little girls favorite things to do... swing at the park!

Ellen and Clara performed in a show for CBS at church.  This is Ellen's last year.  This is her friend Brooks holding Marta.

The Hardware store's ladies night out!
We won a $200 gift card!
We went with my good friend Lacey and her daughter Reese.

Happy Mother Day with a life-size card!

Rita had a presentation at school on England.  She wanted to dress up like the Princess of England.  A  friend made this dress to look like Kate Middleton's dress when she was released from the hospital.  It was so fun to watch Rita get into it!  Aunt Betsy let her borrow the headpiece.

A rare moment alone with Grace.

Some of the neighbor kids over for ice cream!

ER visit #1 in 24 hours... Grace stapled her fingers

ER Visit #2 ... Marta broke her leg falling out of the crib

I belong to a babysitting co-op.  We have monthly meetings and I took this photo of all the minivans parked outside during one of the meetings.  Minivan Central!

"When they are good, they are very, very good."

We went to a VA Tech Grad party of some family friends.  This is Hannah and Grace, she is so sweet to our kids.  My girls (and us) love them.  Hannah's sister Madison is going to VT.  Such a fun party with an ice cream truck!

Happy 11th Birthday Grace

Grace had three friends over for her 11th birthday.  First they went to a new pizza shop down the rode where they made-their-own pizzas.  Then we went home played outside.  Lastly, the decorated cupcakes and opened presents.  It was such a fun time for her.  So thankful for her!

"Grandfriends" Performance at School

Every year, the children's school has a patriotic concert for grandparents.  They dress up and sit through the concert until it is their turn to sing.  It is a really well done and precious concert that I enjoy every year.  This year Grandma and Grandpa came in from Michigan to come.  I don't think they have ever missed one of these concerts but I didn't get a photo of them!  I can't believe it.
