Sam broke his arm when Marta was about 2 weeks old in early May. He was on the monkey bars and his hands got sweaty and he fell. His teacher saw him fall in an awkward way and sent him to the clinic right away. He had broken his wrist and elbow. He has been a trooper over the course of urgent care visits, many X Rays, 2 casts (soft and hard), physical therapy and tons of doctor appointments. The cast is now off and he is almost back to normal. He still has some trouble touching his shoulder but we are thankful he didn't need surgery.
All smiles the night it happened but he was in a lot of pain. We were surprised how much energy it took out of him.
Sam is left handed so we were glad it was his right hand that broke.
He was not allowed to ride his bike so we took many walks to make up for it.
Still bruised and swollen after 1 week but they still put the hard cast on.
It stayed on for 6 weeks.
By week 4, I could not keep him off of the trampoline anymore. He really wanted to participate in field day so the PE teacher let him... with bubble wrap all around the cast!
The day Sam got the cast off was also the last day of school. This machine was VERY loud and looked like a saw. He was so still, didn't make a sound and stayed calm. He almost passed out two times though once he sat up. "Mommy, I counted the cars in the parking lot."
Atrophy!
Physical Therapy is a ball!
