Marta Katherine

Our precious baby girl arrived on April 17, 2014 at 10:57 pm - 2 hours shy of 11 days overdue.

We are so thankful she is here and healthy and fits perfectly in our family.
We already can't imagine life without her.

Marta Katherine
4.17.14
10:57pm
8 lbs 9 oz
22 inches
lots of soft light brown hair and blonde eyebrows
strong arms and legs

We (Nate especially) loved the name Marta.  A really fun fact about our Marta is that she is the 6th child in our family just like Marta Von Trapp in the Sound of Music.

When we told the kids we named her Marta, they didn't ask any questions or act surprised!  It was the perfect choice for our new addition.  It was a great reaction.  Sam kept asking "what is her name again, Margaret?"

Katherine is the name of my paternal grandma who passed away.  She was called "Kay" and we thought it was a beautiful name.  My dad was really routing for her name to be Katherine!  It is also the name of Nate's great grandmother.

The only one who ever guessed the name correctly was little Rita.  Towards the end of the pregnancy, I kept telling them that I loved the names of the children in Sound of Music.  Especially Liesl and Gretl.  Once, Rita said, "What about Marta?"  I just smiled.

Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day

My due date was April 8.  That was the same day as the Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day.
We made it to our annual tradition!

Adidas

We had to put Adidas down last week.  It was a hard decision but she was sick and making a mess.  These are some of our last memories with her.

She was a sweet cat and always gentle with the kids.  She loved to lay on the changing table when I changed diapers.

Ellen said that she loved to pet "Didi" in the morning and night one time.

Taking her to be put down was very traumatic.  For weeks, she has been laying in the baby's bassinet to sleep.  That was the last place she was before we brought her in.  Ellen is saying goodbye to her.

Clara loved her too.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell (Volume 43)

These days Ellen is very sneaky and hides during naptime.

March 2014

Snow days means a lot of Monopoly around here.

We love playing outside with our neighbors!

Doors must be locked at all times.

A post corned beef Saint Patrick's Day walk led us to this discovery!
We have fun neighbors!

Who needs toys when you have an ottoman?
The kids play vet, funeral home, school, and gymnastics in this thing...

Dressed and ready for MOPS.

Sam and his friend Jaden on Sam's new loft bed.

We dyed our Easter Eggs early this year because the baby may come early (which did NOT happen!)
