We have a nursery!

When Grace was born, we were in the middle of moving to a new house and I never really did a nursery.  Everything I received was green because I wanted to have the option to use it for a boy or girl.  Then Rita came and they shared a room and I used the green again.  Then Sam came and I bought some circus themed bedding and used the green for him!  When Ellen and Clara came, I was sick of decorating a nursery and just used what I had... the green!

So this baby... gets a PINK nursery!  I didn't do a lot of decorating but I had our painter paint the ceiling pink, walls white and add crown molding.  This room can be seen off of the master bedroom so I love looking in and seeing the pink!  Clara and Baby 6 are going to share this room and I got a matching Pottery Barn crib second hand and they match perfectly - like twins.

I had a friend at church make two pink frilly tutu crib skirts to look like ones I saw at a store and she made a matching valance.  I took away the green crib sheets, basket liners and changing pad covers.

I took a boring video but it is fun to see the amount of diapers that the women at my church have SHOWERED me with in the closet.  Click HERE to see it.  It is less than one minute.

This is the photo of our trunk after the diaper shower at church!   So thankful!

February

We went to an event at the library afterschool where the kids were able to make cake pops.

Often we have a hard time finding Sam in the mornings.

Ellen loves going to the park by our house.

Daddy Daughter Dance

We love playing with our neighbors Natalie and Henry.  They are from Michigan!
Natalie is really sweet and fits right in with our girls.

This is Natalie's brother Henry.  Ellen sneaks down to their house to play ALL THE TIME!
They are really cute on the trampoline together.

Grace and Rita have never slept together on their own until I woke them up this one morning.
"Rita was scared."

One of Sam's best buddies Jaden took him out to lunch one day and Sam tried scallops and duck.  He loved it.

Jerilyn & Freddie

Jerilyn lived with us over the summer.  She came back to visit us for Spring Break.  We enjoyed seeing her and we treated her to our favorite frozen custard... Freddies!

DC Cupcake LOVE

Nate and I took Grace out one evening to Georgetown by herself.  We took her to a nice Italian restaurant and then we took her to DC Cupcakes.  It was really fun to spend time with her alone!

Look at that pink rhinestone mixer!
She loved it!

So many choices!

Catherine and Sophie were not in the store but Grace did ask.  After she asked, the cashier gave her a signed photograph of them.  She has it hanging on her bulletin board in her room now.  It is very special to her.
A few weeks later, I was at a grocery store that had just opened and sure enough... who was sampling cupcakes but Warren Brown!  I got a picture of him interacting with the little girls (someone was shy).  It made my day.  Remember when he was on Oprah??

Clara unloading the dishwasher....

Who says that an 18 month old can't do chores?
We thought this video was so hilarious.  The scissors.....
Click HERE for the video - it is only 1 minute.

Nate's Surprise Baby Shower!

Nate's coworkers managed to surprise him BIG time and threw him a baby shower.  They texted me on my cell phone weeks in advance and asked me to come.

It was sneaky because whenever they texted me details for the big day, I had to delete all the messages ASAP so he wouldn't see them on my phone in the evening (we have one cell phone). They told him that there was going to be the usual "Shindig" and he kept telling me that I needed to make my chicken dip for it and get some cash to pay them for the party!  (ha, ha!)

I wrote it on my calendar and worked on things from my end - babysitters, carpool pickup, sick kids, etc.  We pulled it off!  It was so great - I felt so spoiled and touched that they did something like this.

Here is the sign they had up in the conference room when he walked in... nothing suspicious.

But when he turned around, he saw this on the table.  I just loved this cake!  It was so fun to have such a big, beautiful pink cake and bring home pieces for the kids.  They had us cut it together like it was our wedding reception.  I got a kick out of it.

They made these pink cups that had our pictures on it.  It was so creative that they managed to find pictures of us without asking!  (Maria got the photos from this blog!)  Since the shower, the older girls have taken these cups and use them in their rooms and bathroom.  I told them about the shower the morning of and they were so excited to hear about it at dinner that night.  They couldn't' believe Daddy was surprised.
When Nate walked into the conference room, he had just come from a meeting and planned to only stay for about 20 minutes.  He walked in and saw someone taking a photo of him.  Some people said "surprise!"  But the shock was when they told him to turn around and he saw ME!

To see the 6 second video of Nate's shock click HERE!

He kept asking, "where are the kids, where are the kids?"  Maria arranged parking for me in the parking garage and it was not a big deal at all for me to get into the building with her.  He couldn't believe it.  We were sneaking through the halls so we wouldn't run into him.

Here he is after the surprise, he looked dizzy and like he needed to sit down.

They had a great assortment of food.  Someone went out and got Chick-fil-A platters, wings, meatballs and many homemade things like cucumber sandwiches, roasted peanuts, dips and salad.  Nate had leftovers at work for over a week for lunch!

I always hear about his coworkers but actually getting to meet them was really a hoot for me!  They told some funny stories about when they had children and we were laughing a lot.  Nate ended up canceling his meeting afterwards and we stayed in the conference room.

We played a game!  Maria collected baby photos of everyone in the office and you had to guess who was who.  Nate didn't think that was suspicious at all when he came home and asked me for a baby photo.  We thought our cover was blown.

Everyone was getting a kick out of this game.  It was especially funny because she added some random photos from the internet to throw people off.
Can you see Nate?

We were overwhelmed with their generosity in having the party and then to top it all off, they pitched in and got us a gift card and Brenda made us the most beautiful crocheted sweater, booties and hat.  She is so talented and I just adore the color.  It is so special to have something handmade and new for the 6th baby.  We have it laying in the crib, waiting for her arrival.

With the gift card, we were able to buy some things I really needed this past weekend.  We purchased a new Boppy pillow, little girl socks, lavender baby powder, and a really big purchase - our STROLLER!  I am so thankful for them and that I didn't have to wait to buy these things until after having the baby.

Sometimes his friends in the office read my blog so if you all are reading this, thank you for having a party for Nate (us!)  It was the most relaxing and stress-free shower.  I felt so excited to have this baby after being with them and having lunch.  They took care of all the details and Nate and I are still talking about the fun we had.  I can't wait to bring in the baby to show her off in a few weeks!

Butterfly Snow Day

We hit up the Museum of Natural History on a snow day last month.  It was a wonderful day to be at the museum because it was empty.  We had the whole place to ourselves and we were able to see the tarantula feeding and go into the Butterfly Tunnel.

The butterflies loved the cantaloupe.

 They kept landing on Nate!

January!

We had a busy January!

Cooking Class - making and decorating Valentines sugar cookies with good friends

We went to a Princess Party at the library and had the Marshall High School Cosmetology class do the girls hair, nails and faces.

We are going to lots and lots of kids eat free nights as I want to cook less and less and less.

Clara can not get enough of our canned food.  She stacks them and plays with them and puts them away.

Sammy continues to learn to read - so fun and so many new books!

Crazy hat night at Awana was a blast.

We had tons of snow and our neighbors across the street let the kids spend hours on their hill.

Who would have thought that a trampoline would be fun with snow!?!?!

Nate blew out his back again.  He did this when I was pregnant with Clara.  He has the kids "massage" it nightly.
