crib drama
Seven years ago we got a beautiful crib for Grace from Pottery Barn. I was in love with it. Fast forward to now - four kids later - and the crib is a mess. Rita kicked the railing off of the base of the crib when she was about two and we have used twine to keep it together. I told Pottery Barn about it about 3 years ago and was told that it was too old to do anything about it. While shopping there the other night, I brought it up with the manager that I have never been happy with PB since then and was not going to buy a comforter there in case it got ruined like the crib. She got my number and called me back on Tues. She told me to bring in the old crib and they will give me a new one. So Ellen gets a new crib!
SNAKE update...
After hearing that so many people were interested in my brother's snake story... here are the details in his own words.
From Brian:
My kids wanted to go into the basement to use the computer, but Alayna didn't want them using the computer alone, so she asked them to wait until she was ready. Alayna forgot all about it. In the meantime, I went into the basement to use the computer.
I turned it on and put my feet under the desk when I saw the movement of the snake picking its head up like it wanted to strike me. I noticed the movement under the desk and moved back. I didn't know what it was at first that's why I didn't really panic.
At first I thought it might have been a garner snake, but I looked up "copperhead" on my blackberry and instantly got some pictures that looked exactly like the snake under my desk. I wasn't going to tell Alayna about the snake, but when I went upstairs to get the camera, I told the kids not to go into the basement right now.
Of course, Alayna wanted to see why and she ran after me to see why I had the camera in my hand. Alayna freaked out much more than I did. I just stared at it, not exactly sure what to do next. Alayna went upstairs and called animal control.
I had some glue traps in my hand that I was going to throw at it in case it moved. Animal control showed up about 20 minutes later and you can see what happened next from the video. We've had other snakes in our basement before but never a copperhead.
Alayna wants to move, but I'm not sure how I tell potential buyers about copperheads that get into our basement. There is some rotten wood under doorstep. When I'm in the basement, I can see light when I look up at that wood. I think that's how it was getting in. We bought some spray foam insulation from Home Depot to plug up the hole.
Here is the much anticipated video:

Headboard
Memorial Weekend
This past Friday was Grandparents Day and Grace has a presentation at school. I didn't get any photos of her with her grandparents though (why on earth - little chaotic?!?!)! Grandma V came in from Michigan and both Nana and Papa were there. They sang some really adorable songs. Look how precious they all look.
