Strawberries in the Rain

The kids and I had a fun day trip today. We went strawberry picking. It lasted about 20 minutes. Grace couldn't "find any", Rita was picking small white ones, and Sammy was sitting in mud the entire time. We were frustrated with all the mud! Then we went to a little hole in the wall place called Barbara's Candystick restaurant. It was hilarious. Totally back into the 50's. Everything was that teal blue inside with a real diner counter. It was very inexpensive too. The owner even ran out to me because she overcharged me by $4 and didn't want me to leave without it! Then we got stuck in a horrible rainstorm and had to pull over on the side of the road under an overpass with a bunch of other cars. The guy behind us got out to smoke while we waited. That was funny to us. Our minivan doesn't do well in rain and loses the belt from the power steering.

VIVA!

Grace, especially, was fearless at VIVA Vienna last weekend. She loved riding all the rides. Thank you to Aunt Betsy for the unlimited ride pass and also the photo of Grace and Uncle Marvin!
UPDATE: I received an apology letter and 4 - $2 gift certificates to BR for the mishap last week. $8 doesn't equal the price of the cake but whatever!

Makeup

The girls wanted to do makeup... first time they ever asked! Sammy wasn't allowed.

Happy Birthday Grace!

Grace turned five this past weekend. We took her to a Japanese steakhouse for dinner on Friday. The kids loved it and the food was pretty good. We had a small party for her on Saturday and had waffles for dinner on Sunday.
Nate and Grace
Grace and Rita sharing dessert.
Rita, Della, and Grace
Duck, Duck Princess - ever heard of it? The highlight of the party!
I filled up the pinata with bags of marbles, bouncy balls and candy.
They were so excited!
Rita all wiped out!
On another note, we ordered a cake for the party from Baskin Robbins earlier in the week. I paid for it in full and Grace picked out every aspect of it. When Nate went to pick it up 30 minutes before the party, the high school girl (poor girl) was sorry but the cake maker had been sick all week. No phone call or anything, will keep you posted.

May Post???

I have NOT forsaken the blog! In the past few weeks, these are some highlights of what has happened in my life.

++ I have had a chicken party at my house. I invited about 6 of my girlfriends over and we made 6 meals in under 2 hours. It was really fun, the recipes are good, it is cheap and a fun way to be productive!!

++ I have decided not to do MOPS next year at the church where I currently am the Crafty Lady. That is a big thing for me to give up but life is already busy with my three kids, carpooling, naps, and other adventures.

++ We have been outside a lot. Sammy received a Detroit Tigers hat and wears it outside everyday.

++ Sam has woken up twice with blood all over his crib. Apparently it is a bloody nose.

Rita is screaming next to me right now so I am going to go but here are some photos of our last few weeks.
